REMOTE TEAM | THE FUTURE OF WORK AND HOW IT WILL AFFECT COMPANY’S WORKFORCE

Remote work is becoming more and more common. Many companies are adopting remote working policies, or “remote first” as they refer to it. This means that even if employees do not have any other options for where to work, they can still choose to work remotely from home. Remote team management allows companies to hire people who live anywhere in the world, which opens up a whole new pool of talent for potential hires. People living outside of major metropolitan areas often face limited job prospects because their location limits them geographically; with remote work though, all you need is an internet connection. 

The future of work is no longer local. Gone are the days when companies could just rely on their physical location for staff and customers, but now they have to think globally if they want any chance at success (or else). Remote teams provide an attractive alternative that allows businesses from all over worldwide access to great deals in productivity while still maintaining high standards without having employees come into contact with one another.

Will work from home become the new norm? 

With COVID-19 on everyone’s minds, a new study has found most office workers want to work from home at least one day per week. In addition, nearly all employers surveyed anticipate their staff will be working remotely long after this virus is gone–and they’re not alone in thinking so! A separate large-scale survey conducted by Slack revealed that 72% of knowledge workers prefer mixing both remote and “in-person” interactions for maximum productivity.

What are the benefits of work from home?

Work from home advantages are plenty for employees for the following reasons:

  1. Save time and gas by not having to commute.
  2. Stay at home with your kids during the day or take care of them while you work.
  3. Get a better work-life balance because you’re in control of your schedule.
  4. Have more flexibility if you want to start a side business on the weekends.
  5. Work from anywhere – coffee shops, libraries, etc. as long as there’s an internet connection.
  6. Be less stressed because it’s easier to manage your workload and responsibilities when everything is under one roof.
  7. Avoid office drama – there’s no gossiping when you’re not physically present.
  8. You can dress casually without feeling self-conscious about it.
  9. Home online work is an excellent way to make money.
  10. Be able to do work around the house or take care of errands while continuing to work – no need for a break.

The current state of remote work

As more people gain access to the internet and communication technology, teleworking has become a common practice in many offices. This type of work isn’t done entirely from home: Remote workers turn towards coffee shops or coworking spaces while maintaining their career goals.

In the last few years, telework and remote work has been on the rise. The benefit to businesses is that they can save money by eliminating office space costs; however,  many companies have resisted this work trend for various reasons. Some business owners fear that their employees will not be productive while others haven’t invested in teleconferencing and telework tech to support remote workers. Still, many other businesses have dipped their toes in the remote workforce by creating a work-from-home policy for one or two days a week.

What the future holds

Employers may find that long-term remote work is an option for their employees, even after the pandemic. This could be due to its positive impact on productivity and reduced real estate costs as well as a more environmentally friendly approach than traditional business models like office buildings and a positive impact on the environment.

It’s not an easy task to transition your company from the old-school way of doing things and this may be difficult for some companies. However, there are ways around it with hard-working employees who know how technology works in order to make a seamless process possible.

With these advancements, companies can be more at ease. The transition from managing a remote workforce to the new way of doing things might seem daunting but with proper tech and hardworking employees, it will come together smoothly.
