Get your team together and have some fun! To start a team-building session for virtual teams, make sure everyone understands the purpose of what they’re getting into. This will be an interactive activity that helps build camaraderie within the group as well as strategies on how best to approach challenges with others who may not know each other just yet or share similar goals but different perspectives. The game of Two Truths and Lie is a creative icebreaker for your colleagues. Participants list two facts about themselves (these are their truths) and one lie; they have to try figuring out which statement it sounds like might not actually be true! The best way to get someone’s back? Choose obscure truths combined with believable-sounding lies – this will discourage any competition before it even begins because no one wants anyone else decoding all his or her personal information first hand.

This icebreaker helps players learn a little more about each other and hopefully adds a lot of laughs. You’ll surely be surprised by the truth.

4. Fun Trivia Game

Trivia games are a lot of fun for everyone involved. You may be surprised who knows what random fact, but don’t forget that the topics can range anywhere from movies to outer space and everything in between.

How to play a Trivia Game?
  1. Pick a host.

Designate one person in your group to play the host, and every week you can switch up who the host is.

  1. Choose your theme and list of questions.

Divide into different groups, and it doesn’t matter how many people are in each team.

Let the friendly competition begin and make sure someone always is keeping score.

The team that guesses the correct answers first and with the most points wins. Award a fun prize such as a gift card or a fun trophy. You can also make this activity a weekly one and award an all-time winner.

5. Icebreaker Quiz Game

6. Virtual Scavenger Hunt

This is a really fun activity that you organize quite quickly.

When everyone is on your Zoom call, issue the challenge of collecting a list of different items from around the house.

The first person to make it back to the webcam and prove that they’ve collected all the items wins!.

7. What Would You Do?

What Would You Do? is one of several scenario-based virtual team-building exercises you can do.

How to play:

  1. Split employees into teams or discuss as one big group.
  2. Pose hypothetical questions.
  3. Let employees talk through a plan of action.

Not only does What Would You Do? foster fun and engagement, but this virtual team activity allows coworkers to learn each others’ problem-solving processes in real-time.

8. Virtual Dance Party

One of the best ways to quickly build team morale is by throwing spontaneous dance parties during video calls. We have a few recommendations for these virtual activities:

10 minutes of focused attention during the day is enough to make remote teams feel cohesive and connected. You can do this by using guided meditation sessions for 10 quiet minutes each morning, noon or night.

Here is how:

  1. Find your meditation position online and enjoy the benefits of a group session. 
  2. Send a video call invitation to the team.
  3. Consider sending employees a care package with scented oils and candles beforehand.
  4. Perform mindfulness activities as instructed by the guide.

Celebrate a virtual birthday party for your remote team. Celebrating is so much more fun!

Makes it easy to get everyone together in one place and share the experience with each other, even if they can’t be physically present at this important event

  1. An element of surprise. Get everyone on a virtual call and tell the birthday person that the call starts five minutes later.
  2. Fun virtual activities. Do icebreakers, lightning scavenger hunts, and similar.
  3. Heaps of praise. Use the opportunity to showcase the team member.
