Many people believe that working from home is a dream come true, but in reality, it often has disadvantages.   For instance, you don’t have the energy and enthusiasm of your co-workers when you’re at home. You also can’t share ideas with them or brainstorm during lunchtime. In addition, working from home means there’s no one to tell you when it’s time for a break!

Working at home can be a blessing and a curse. While it’s nice to have the luxury of being able to work in your pajamas, there are some disadvantages that you should consider before taking the plunge.  This blog will cover what I believe are the advantages and disadvantages of working from home so you can make an educated decision about whether or not this is right for you.

  2. Stay at home with your kids during the day or take care of them while you work
  3. Get a better work-life balance because you’re in control of your schedule
  4. Have more flexibility if you want to start a side business on the weekends 
  5. Work from anywhere – coffee shops, libraries, etc. as long as there’s an internet connection!
  6. Be less stressed because it’s easier to manage your workload and responsibilities when everything is under one roof
  7. Avoid office drama – there’s no gossiping when you’re not physically present
  8. You can dress casually without feeling self-conscious about it
  9. Home online work is an excellent way to make money
  10. Be able to do work around the house or take care of errands while continuing to work – no need for a break

 

The 7 Disadvantages of Working From Home

  1. The internet is a distraction
  2. Unstable internet connection
  3. You have to be available 24/7
  4. The rise of technology has made it possible for more people to work from home online
  5. Working from home also means that you have less time for yourself due to the distractions around you 
  6. It’s difficult to find time for exercise because working from home means it’s too easy to skip workouts and overeat instead 
  7. There are fewer opportunities for professional growth when working from home – no one will notice if you do good work or not!

 

When you work from home, it can be easy to get distracted and lose focus. To stay on task, try setting a timer or taking periodic breaks so that your productivity stays high all day long. You could even set up “office hours” during which time you will only do work-related tasks for an hour at a time. This way, when the clock strikes 12 pm, 1 pm, etc.,

If you’re considering making a switch to work from home, be sure to consider all of your options and weigh them against each other.
